How I have set up an efficient AdWords campaign without any experience

Many small businesses or marketers fail to advertise online because they cannot afford to allocate a budget and pay an agency monthly fee. What if I told you that you could create your own efficient Google AdWords campaign with the help of an expert, for free?

This is how i started out and made my first campaign that had good results.

Getting Started with Google Adwords

First of all you need a GMAIL account, which you can create for free if you don’t own one already. Than go to Adwords.com and click start now. I would recommend selecting experienced with google option at the “What is your main advertising goal?” screen because it will redirect you to a much better way to setting up your campaign which will save you money.

Follow these simple steps and nothing should go wrong:

  1. Setup Your first ad
  2. Add your keywords and negative keywords
  3. Call Google AdWords support centre and complain about your campaign results.
  4. Update and adapt.

Using this tricks will not make you an Google Ads expert, but will definitely help you get started.

Setup Your first ad.

For beginners i would recommend creating an “Search Ad”.

On the campaign setup screen under the networks section uncheck the tick boxes “Search Network” and “Display Network” this way you will only target search keywords and save up some money.

Then select your preferred location and language targeting option that works best for you.

As a starting budget i would choose 5$ with standard delivery, first test out and when you gain results and confidence adapt.

Another tip for saving money is browsing the additional settings tab and under the Ad Schedule option make sure you match your campaign schedule with your work hours.

Click save and continue and for the next page choose an ad group name and some keywords that you consider important (you will edit keywords later after you do some keyword research).

Next step enter your url and choose the headline. This step is very important because if you do it right you will get better CTR(Click Through Ratio). There are several methods to increase CTR like using click-bait or using a dramatic feeling in the headline.

For instance, if you are selling oral hygiene products, instead of “Order the best oral hygiene products on the market” your title should sound like: “Can’t get rid of bad breath? Order the best products now!”.

It will make your audience uncomfortable with their problem, therefore they will be more likely to take action.

I use an AI tool called copyshark to generate great headlines. There are some free ai tools also like openAI which is beta version right now. Copyshark can also be used for product descriptions and 50+ copywriting generation tools. I will leave below an video that shows how it works.

Add your keywords and negative keywords.

This step is a simple and ongoing process. Firstly add the keywords you already know that you want to target. Secondly, check out the suggested keywords for more relative keywords that work for you. You can use the keyword planner that you can find in tools now. This will help you find search volume for each keyword.

After that, you should check from time to time for bad keywords that are not relevant to your website and add them to negative keywords list.

Call Google AdWords support centre and complain about your campaign results.

Here is where the magic happens, after running ads for a few days just give them a call and ask what can you do to get better results. An AdWords specialist will guide you over the phone. He might ask for access to your account so he can see what you are doing wrong in real-time.

This way i got my free consultation with an Google AdWords expert that lasted more than an hour.

Update and adapt.

Don’t forget to constantly update your keywords lists, read more guides and improve your ads. Spending 1-2 hours a day on it might get you the desired results. Also try different budget allocations and CPC bid(Cost-per-click).

Congratulations you have your first efficient AdWords campaign

From now on you can improve your skills and become an expert in this field or just use it until you can afford to pay an agency and drive even better results.
